Cheap place to stay in London?

I have three interviews in London on the 26th, 27th and the 28th. Accommodation is provided on the 26th, but I still need somewhere to stay on the 25th and the 27th. (Maybe even on the 28th...) Expenses will not be refunded for the accommodation.:( Ideally looking for somewhere central, but as long as it's on a tube line, that'll do. One is EC4N, the other EC1M. (If that means anything??)

Anyone know of any cheap and safe hotels/hotels/etc in London that I could try? I haven't been to the city in ages, and don't know which parts to avoid, so some recommendations would be really appreciated.

I'd look at https://www.hostelworld.com - just watch out for places like The Generator which tend to be a tadge noisy

There's a post on the site somewhere about cheap £1 rates at the Hoxton Hotel on Great Eastern St, which is on the edge of the City (City=EC postcode).
