i tried to take up the offer of 5 pieces of software for £3.95 (saw their advertisement in a magazine) - yet, when i phoned the guy said the deal wasnt for a fully working pack - it times out after so long, but, he could do me a deal - the fully working pack for £30 or summat like that - i told him to forget it.........
this is just so you will phone up and they can then get you to buy a dearer package off them..............

I bought some serif software (pageplus, photoplus 5 )etc for £3.95 about a year back with no mention of any timing out. the guy who took my order explained that these were on sale in the shops a few years back at full price and pretty expensive, but because they were now considered old versions that they could afford to let them go cheap (with hopefully trying to get new customers on their data base) They did try( very hard ) to sell me the new versions which i could,nt afford but i just just said no. They also phone from time to time with new products they try to sell you.
In all honesty the the sofware i got was actually very good and they also give me a free 4 point usb port.and up tp present everything has worked ok (fingers crossed)

I have been a fan of Serif software for quite a while now (probably right back to the original PagePlus). Most of the pieces of software I have came from cover disks but I have over time availed of the 'Free software' offers (i.e. you only P&P) and I did get quite a few with my Canon scanner. None of the stuff I have received seems to be time limited - occasionally I get a screen saying it is not registered but a couple of mouse clicks bypasses that.
Serif does however use the phone call to try to sell you upgrades etc. - a bit of a pain, but hey if you are effectively getting something for free!! I would say that for £3.95 you have nothing to lose ... you may like the software, you may not, but it is cheaper than most magazines these days. I use PagePlus, DrawPlus, PhotoPlus, WebPlus and 3DPlus (and I also have other Serif disks I have not even got round to loading yet).
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
You can download a lot of serif stuff free

I can't remember if that's where I got my stuff (site looks a lot different now)
but the url looks right0 -
we downloaded a serif prog sometime ago and had to leave details on the site before it would download. Then about 6 months later a man rang from there, asking if I was interested in buying their new better version. I said no because I cant stand all the wretched templates and he said Oh thats what had been improved, they had added more0
