Help - Office Live Small Business shutting down

  • I see what you are saying Tony, but you bought a subscription service not a product. That portion of the business conflicts with their new Office 365 (which will have a client base bigger than your current solution by a factor of 100x). It is a business decision at the end of the day.

If you know you are putting it on Wordpress there is no harm getting the site designed now. I'd then get hosting and let the Vworker upload it, then transfer the domain.
If my post helped you in anyway, please hit the "Thanks" button! Please note any advice I give is followed at your own risk!
  • Tony,
my journey went something like this - may not be the best way, but it worked for me :)

    A) found out about MSSBL shutting down and panic!
B)Try for 2 months to figure out what to do and getting lost with free publishing sites and templates and dreamweaver....
    C) Found Vworker by accident, posted a job at <$50 just to see teh responses - was not expecting anything
    D) Started getting quotes in from Vworker, sifted through for people that had read the ad full, had questions, were clear on what they could do and would do as part of the job.
E)Secured hosting, got relevent userids and passwords from the hosting provider.
    F) created userid and password for the Vworker to have full access rights
    G) Selected Vworker, confirmed requirements, and passed hosting IDs to them
    H) Reviewed test sites, made changes (font size, layout etc)
    I) when test site completed, asked Vworker to make 'Live'
    J) Cancelled MS OLSB account.
    K) When MS email arrived with domain owner details, logged on to Melbourne IT, set up an account (free) and made changes to DNS as directed by the Hosting Provider (you just change teh names of the servers that the website looks for)
    L) Wait 24hrs for DNS change to be mapped across the world :)
M)Setup Email accounts and redirects as required on teh new Host.
    N) Final tweeks performed on site with teh Vworker
    O) Signed off as complete and closed the Vworker project
    P) Sat back and thought, that was easier/quicker/cheaper/ than I thought!

2 weeks from engaging my chosen contractor to 'P'

I have since used my Vworker to help me do things like add google analytics, twitter buttons etc, he has done it free of charge, never asked for a penny - so as a result I sent him a 'Bonus' :)
