Do I qualify for cashback if I switch from one tariff with Scottish Power to another with the same company? Anyone tried & been successful?

No, cashbacks are for switching from one company to another, not just changing tariffs.

Why would SP pay you to switch to another tariff?

I guess my thought (wrong) was that they would pay to keep you? Not totally illogical..........

But if you don't switch tariff, they are keeping you anyway.

    Have you?

I'm surprised if you input your current supplier & tariff correctly that energyhelpline would even indicate a switch through them to another tariff with the same supplier was possible.

They will show you the tariff, but not usually the ability to transfer via them

They do offer you their service to do a switch of tariff with your current company (as long as it's a company they deal with, shown by a "I want this tariff" button next to the tariff).

Whether or not you get the cashback might have to be a case of suck it and see - but you have nothing to lose by trying if you really want to stay with the same company.

But I am switching tariffs as energyhelpline shows I can save by doing so - I wouldn't have asked the original question otherwise - at least I don't think I would!!!

Yes I did, and yes they did show that the best option was from the same provider.

I haven't jumped, as I was waiting for responses from a number of sources.

    Thanks for your replies..........

You can't jump as there is no "I want this tariff" button to jump onto if you put your current supplier as SP.

Spot on, Thanks I'm just blind - if you click on the offer you get:
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to switch your energy supply to ScottishPower - Online Fixed Price Energy May 2013, as they do not support our service for this tariff.
