where to start? various loans & cards

Hi I've posted before on this forum and thanks to all those that have helped me. Now posting on behalf of a friend who would also like some help.

1. She has had various store cards but unfortunately doesn't have any of the account numbers but does have a rough idea as to when these cards were being used - would it be worth her sending a SAR to Santander to see if they have any info? (the cards were Dorothy Perkins, Debenhams, New Look & Argos).

2. She has had 2 loans with Tesco and has the loan agreement numbers and is sure she had PPI with those - should she send a letter requesting a copy of the loan agreements to double check or should she just contact Tesco to complain about being missold.

3. She has had 3 loans with TSB dating 1994, 1997 and 1999 - Lloyds TSB have given her the date of the final payments for all of these loans and the account from which the payments were made is still active - but unfortunately she doesn't have the loan agreements - again she is sure she had PPI with these. What would be the best thing for her to do?

4. She has also had various credit cards but does not have the account numbers, MBNA, Capital One & Halifax should she contact each company and see if they can locate credit agreements - would they be able to trace them from addresses etc?

She had a Lloyds credit card which had PPI on which she tried to cancel several times and Lloyds have investigated this and she has been successful.

She has tried to telephone various companies but just keeps being given different telephone numbers and is now thinking of asking a claim company to deal with it for her so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

    Hi,

I'm just starting my investigation with my own things. So far I've found some information from:
    My credit report.
Old bank statements on line. Most account numbers are on the reference number of direct debits.
    Calling companies.
Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

Do not use a claims co,she will have to do the leg work anyway, why pay a % to someone when she can do it for the cost of a few phone calls and stamps, she will get all the help she needs on this site for free, just ask.

    Try a SAR for these.

When were these loans taken out? if they were cleared, you would need to SAR,as Tesco dont have to supply a copy of the agreement for closed loans.
If any of these are still running, then request a copy of the agreements, enclose £1 for each loan.

If she knows the ppi was on there, then put a claim into Tesco.
Look here for reasons for mis sell

    Use any/all that apply.

    As above.

She could ring them and see if they can find her from address dob etc.
    Failing that do a SAR.

And all that waddy80 said too.

If your sister got a claims co,she would still have to do the paperwork, these companies just sit back and take a % of the win.

  • Hi I can comment on the Tesco situation. my story was that I remembered I had a Tesco loan in 2004 which i settled early (2005), I had NO account number, couldnt remember if i had ppi on it or not. Just sent them a letter with my name, address, date of birth, basically told them they would be able to find my account details from above info and gave the speel about misold because front loaded etc. Shortly after received a offer of just over £1k, accepted, cheque received and banked - all in the space of 10 weeks. So my advise is just go for it !! Good luck

  • Hi, some advice please going to try and reclaim my PPI from TEsco

I had the original loan with PPi, then renegotiated for extra money and repayment period, so a new loan with PPI, then had another top up with PPI. The end is in sight 10 months to go.

I have all 3 account numbers, i take it i write to Tesco with all 3 account numbers and ask for PPI repayment to be considered??
