OU announces Tesco Rewards partnership to end
The Open University has today announced that it will be ending the Tesco Clubcard Rewards partnership on Tuesday 31 July 2012, due to the cost associated with maintaining the scheme.
Currently, students are able to exchange Tesco Clubcard vouchers for Tesco Rewards Tokens that are used towards cost of Open University level one modules.
The six months' notice period means students will be able to register for OU modules using Tesco Reward vouchers up until close of business on 31 July. Students will be able to sign up for modules that begin after this date, subject to the module being open for registration, and payment options being arranged and registration being completed, by close of business on 31 July.
Changes to the way higher education is funded in England have reduced the OU's income by more than £90 million. The OU is therefore reviewing all of its costs in order to protect services to all our students and keep fees as low as possible, while sustaining high quality and remaining true to its mission of being open to all.
The arrangements for the funding of higher education are different across the four Nations of the UK and internationally. To find out more about the financial support options that may be available to you, please visit the Fees 2012 website.
Current and prospective students are advised to visit the Tesco OU Clubcard website for more information.

Good.
Associating themselves with Tesco was a bad thing. Furthermore, reduced funding may prompt them to dump some of the nonsense courses.
The OU is marvellous, but it has lost its' way in recent years."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -

Without wanting to drag this too far off topic, I'm curious to know which courses you think are nonsense. I happened to have the OU homepage open when I read your post, and scrolling through the undergraduate prospectus, they all look like pretty standard degree and diploma subjects to me.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY0
