Hi,
Hubby has just cancelled a couple of his credit cards over the phone due to them impacting how much YBS will offer us on a mortgage. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for a credit card company (namely Barclaycard & Tesco) to send out a letter to confirm its closed? They won't send a confirmation email and we're in a hurry to get it all sorted
Thanks in advance

Can't answer your question but I cancelled my barclaycard about three weeks ago, was told I'd get confirmation in due course but still haven't received anything yet.0

Usually you receive it by the time your next bill is due, sorry I don't know exact time frames.Thank you, to all those who make the comps forum, what it is.0

It can take upto a month, depending on your statement date. You'll also need to wait until your credit report has been updated (account status changed to 'Settled') before it'll have any effect on what people will lend you, which could also take upto a month.0

Tesco were very quick for me and I got a letter back within a week - not sure if that coincided with my statement date though sorry.
As for Barclaycard, I cancelled 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back from them. I'm going to wait a month and then call them again.£18,000 loan from my parents used to pay off all credit cards and overdraft
Paying back £500 p/m starting Jan 2012
Current amount owed: [STRIKE]£18,000 £17,500, £17'000 [/STRIKE] £16,500
:T Facing up to my debt :T0 -
Thanks for the replies
Just checked his statements and they're all dated 6th & 9th of the month so fingers crossed the letters will arrive quickly.
The slow credit report updates are a pain in the bum. We had a couple of CC payments missing as it hadn't updated in time so we had to supply proof that we'd made the payments. Hopefully the nice branch manager can talk their head office people round without the proof of account closure straight away but not holding my breath0
