Ok, you need to write to them, be sure to detail how you've been trying to contact them, save a copy and send the letter 1st class signed for recorded. It'd be good if you had phone records to show you made the calls too.
But keep trying to contact them!!!!

They may be hard to get hold of, but as soon as your VED expires they'll be sending the fines through the post before you know what's happened.

With these w***ers you really have to cover you back.

Thank you - I managed to find a number eventually but they are closed until tomorrow.

However... I found my car folder :T I will be sure to keep it with my other filing in future as that was really stressful :(

Off to DVLA website to buy online :)

    Thanks for the advice

DVLA - I need to speak to a real person
My patience is being pushed to it's limits trying to get thru to the DVLA

They have this awful automated system which never seems to reach a person.

My problem is that I have misplaced all my car documents  Everything is up to date, insurance, MOT etc. but I have not received a reminder - I need the reminder for the reference number

Does anybody know how I can get my car taxed or get thru to someone at DVLA please?

ps - I know I have left it stupidly late.
I never have understood why people delete their posts after their problem is overcome.

It is both disrespectful to those who try to help and selfish.

When I deleted my post, I hadn't had a reply. Strider's post crossed with me deleting it and I hit the thanks button, and replied to Strider. I am neither disrespectful OR selfish thank you very much.

My problem was only overcome because I found my paperwork - I didn't see how that would help anybody else doing a search!!!

    :p

Not if it's an OP, or atleast not if it has had replies.

There were no replies when I deleted it!!!

Me deleting and the reply crossed at the same time.

I CBA to email admin - I just deleted my original message as I had no responses (at the time) and I found my original paperwork... No use to anyone in a search unless they store their stuff in my 9 drawer unit below the TV in the living room

Always someone on here ready to throw blame and accusations around.

Nothing better to do I guess.

eta, i cba to re-visit this thread - thanks to the people who were helpful - two fingers to those who just wanted to criticise
