My loo is tempremental and doesn't like thick paper e.g. Cushelle, Triple Velvet. Can anyone recommend a thinner paper that breaks down quickly, but is actually decent to use? Not rough on the BT please???:o:o

I have a ground floor bathroom.
Occasionally after flushing the water rises up in the bowl and drains very slowly, or might not drain at all.
Putting the car power washer down the manhole outside next to the bathroom clears the problem.
The other 'solutions' don't work, eg. the gas pump down the bowl/pipe.
I'm guessing that the drop from the waste pipe into the sewer isn't sharp enough, so that the blockage builds up in the sewer system somewhere. It all clogs up in the pipes outside the house.
I can't actually see what's happening in the sewer because it's been built over - I only have a tiny access hole that is only big enough for the power wash to go down.0 -
We have a problem loo too. We used to use Andrex but we have had fewer problems since we switched to Sainsburys Recycled.0

Could give it a go. Flushing the sewers is such a nice thing to do.
Got all the usual shops within travelling distance.
Does your loo have the same problem? Is it helped by the thinner paper?0 -
I read somewhere last year that the thicker loo paper, particularly when used with the new smaller cisterns, was apparently creating quite a problem...Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

The loo is at least 15 years old, not water saving, and I'm not using a hippo.0

The blockage may not be your pronlem tjopugh. Have you spoken to the water board? It may be a problem with the public sewers.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I've never understood why people like quilts and puppies and suchlike on their bog roll. You're only using it for wiping your nethers.
I find ordinary Andrex does the job, although it's getting hard to find these days unless you want to buy a 20 roll pack (which I don't)."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Firstly I've just had a similar problem but caused by wipes! The Water Board chap has a million tales about these and the thicker papers - not one of them good!
Secondly, the basic problem is you have to get your drainage sorted. What you need is to talk to the board and get someone out to do a camera inspection. That will let you know finally what the root cause of the problem is so you can spend you efforts wisely i.e. curing the issue and not coming on here chatting to us nice peeps!
As the law has recently changed regarding public drains, it's more far more likely that the drains are the boards problem and if so they WILL sort it pretty quickly. All together now, "Always look on the bright side of life..." :whistle:0 -
I'm in rented accommodation. The problem existed before we moved in. I don't want to fork out for work when the landlord himself cannot be bothered.0
