Immersion Heater Switch
Hi all, I have just moved into a new flat which has Eco 7 heating etc. I have lived in a property with this before but the only difference is that had a dual element tank where as my new flat only has a manual switch.
This is not a major issue because I also have a power shower so showers in the morning are not effected but I've trying to find a effective way to have hot water in the evenings for washing dishes etc. My thinking (albeit not an electrician) is trying to put a timer on the manual switch in order to set a time for the boiler to switch on.
Is this possible and if so is it difficult?
Thanks

Fitting an immersion heater timer is not a difficult task, but as with all things electrical, if you are at all unsure, best to leave it to the professionals"Now to trolling as a concept. .... You don't have a boiler, you have an immersion heater. If the tank is properly lagged then water heated overnight on E7 cheap rate should remain hot all day (if you don't draw it off).
I would fit a modern programmer with a boost switch, available from around £50.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks for the advice. Will look into the modern programmer and see if its something I'm confident with. The tank looks pretty well insulated and water I heated for about an hour last night was still warm this morning.0
