Condenseheat Ltd - are they reputable?

My elderly father had a salesman from this company come to his door who persuaded him to agree to install a new central heating system: new boilers, pipes and new radiators. These people are based in Stockport but work around the country, apparently. I want to know: are they reputable? Is their work good? We have been quoted around £4700 for this work (new Ideal or A-something boiler) so I want to make sure they are good. I am not convinced. Thank you! Dom

I think that any company that employs door-sales tactics is unlikely to be particularly good... If I were you I'd get your dad to cancel. If he does want a new heating system, best to ring round a few local companies and get quotes. From what I've read, the most reliable boilers are from Vaillant, Viessman and Worcester, whilst Baxi and Ideal are the least reliable. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

Hi Dom
We had condenseheat install our system back in October after many months mulling it over. We have been really pleased, not just because the equipment (7 radiators, pipework, boiler, shower) were put in within a couple of days but just the way in which we have been treated. When I had a query, I called Karen Monk at their office and it got sorted immediately and without fuss.
I don't normally do anything with cold callers but on this occasion we were looking for a boiler because ours was over 25 years old. Not only was the experience a very good one, but we have massively reduced our gas bill. Our home is warmer and simply feels cosier with us controlling the system.
Feel free to ask me anything about them.
If you speak to Karen Monk, she is straight down the line and someone I would trust.
I hope this helps.

You are right not to be unconvinced. I can't believe anyone would agree to a new CH system based on a cold call! No reputable CH installer works that way.
The RGI's on this board generally run a mile when anyone mentions Ideal boilers.
Without knowing the work involved no-one can tell what is a good price, but for a typical install that is very expensive indeed. Is it actual necessary to renew the whole system (rads and pipework)?
Get 3 local independent GSR RGIs to quote based on a proper survey.
I hope that there is a cooling-off period during which he can still cancel.
PS: all modern condensing boilers are A rated, so that is just meaningless sales drivel. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Does he actually need a new boiler and radiators or did they say he did?0

Sorry RVB601, but newbies posting copious praise of companies under discussion are generally treated with a degree of scepticism.
A quick Google search will show some discussion of this company on other forums, much of it suggesting that they should really be in the double-glazing business-first quotes allegedly fall immediately by £1K if you offer to 'pay a deposit today', etc. Draw your own conclusions. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Working in retail finance I continually review this site. I came across this and have personal experience of Condenseheat, whom I used recently for installation of a new central heating system. I could not have been happier. the installation was completed in just under two days, the guys overcame a number of technical problems (new flooring etc.) the cost savings are true and accurate; indeed having been given numerous estimated bills, when my meter was eventually read the energy company owed me money. It frustrates me when discussion boards like this chastise people who wish to market their business by calling customers. Show me a business that sits and waits on customers coming to them and you will show me a business that is struggling. If you are not interested when they call, say no and politely end the call. if you choose Condenseheat they will act completely ethically and efficiently in my experience.0

Oooh another newbie praising a cold-calling doorstep-selling company... Alarm bells ringing and all

Having worked in investment banking, I think that good CH installers are probably busy enough without having to tout for business on doorsteps, particularly in the middle of winter.
Edit: oh and most of us on here give regular readings to the utility companies anyway rather than go by estimates and wait for the meters to be read... Which is something you would have noticed if you had indeed continually been monitoring this site :rotfl:Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
strangely enough, the best CH companies around here, dont go around door knocking for business.
and its hard to get them to quote you, a price and date, as they are so busy.
ps
they only fit vaillant or worcester bosch.Get some gorm.0 -

For some strange reason, I do find myself doubting the ethics of companies on this site who end up praised by 1 post newbies. Purely on the basis of this, personally, I would avoid Condenseheat.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
