Still, if I wanted to replace it with boiler and radiators, would the old ducting need removing or is it doing no harm left in situ and boarded over?

i imagine that (like boarding up a chimney) you need to make sure there is still some venitlation to prevent the build up of condensation in the vents.

We had warm air for 30+ years and we loved it but we had a problem with the flue and it was condemned. We had a new boiler put in a few weeks ago not sure if its a combi or condensing boiler and it is lovely and lots of hot water too. But the upheaval was terrible, huge mess where old boiler was and floor boards up everywhere as well . Took ages to get everything made good. But we now have a huge cupboard where the boiler was and thats great.

Not sure if I would want to go through that again. Pricewise we had a family member put ours in so we got a good price. Our neighbour has recently had a new warm air system put in and that was around £2000,I think the average price for a wet system would be about £4000. You can have radiators added to rooms without vents and newer warm air boilers heat the water as well.

It will be a condensing boiler, all new boilers are. It is also a combi if it produces instant hot water without a tank. It is a regular/ system boiler if you have a hot water cylinder.
