You would need to discuss your reasons for wanting this with your insurer (as they are the ones paying for your solicitor)., and then take it from their response.

If necessary you could escalate this through their (your insurer's) complaints procedure.

Just so you know (it will be in the small print if applicable) some solicitors make a referral payment to the insurer for referring cases to them.

Usually once it's been decided that the claim requires court proceedings, you can then choose your own solicitor on the basis that they accept the insurer's terms and that any costs they incur which aren't covered by the insurer will be met by you.

I've called my insurance compnay, they are finding out if it's possible and getting back to me.

So as long as I have a vaild reason for wanting to change this should be possible? I don't mind changing to another solicitor recommended by the insurance company.

In short I have a claim going through, today my solicitor told me we (the injured) have to make a inital offer of x amount to the defendant. But I've just spoken to my barrister friend (he comes in handy once in a while!!) to be told this is wrong and the defendant has to make an offer to me first...... Also there are a few other things the solicitor has done (!!!! about tit as they say) which I'm not completly happy about.....
