If you have claimed on the PPI you are unable to cancel it, even if you are not employed and are on retirement pension and therefore unable to make any future claims. I have a complaint with FSA regarding this matter 18 months now and still no resolution. I have been informed because of high volume of complaints it could be another 12 months before the complaint is resolved. My complaint is against LLoyds TSB.
I also have another serious complaint
against this bank re: a missing credit card payment which they lost in their system and as a result marked against my credit rating for 6 months, destroying my excellent credit rating and resulting in the rejection of `our' remortgage application. The outcome of Lloyd's actions is that we are left in extremely difficult financial circumstances. Also, because we have a joint bank account this also adversely affects my husband's financial situation.
In spite of me going to the bank and giving them proof that I had paid the monthly payment on time, AS USUAL, they continued to mark against my credit rating for 6 more months.

I know its a different company but my PPI was on a virgin credit card, I claimed on it after the birth of my son, 4 years later cancelled the PPI and have had a succesful claim on it. They just deducted what they had paid out to me from my total figure.
Probably doesnt help but no it doesnt seem fair what you have said.0 -

The FSA do not handle consumer complaints. They would just send it on to the bank.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
This a complaint against a bank re: unfair treatment which the FSA deals with. They don't just pass it onto the bank but make a judgement.0

The FSA looks at fraud or rule breaches and regulatory issues. It doesnt look at consumer complaints. Consumer complaints are handled by the firm and then if you are not happy with the firm response, you can go to the FOS.

As the UK financial regulator the FSA does not investigate individual consumer complaints and we do not pay redress.

So, would you like to explain why you think the FSA would look at your complaint when they have no reason to do so under their own remit? Maybe this is why you are not getting anywhere as you have gone to the wrong people?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
