I was in a similar position as you a couple of years ago, I was working part-time and had a fair bit of spare time which i wanted to fill productively.
I did the following:
Created an ebay account
Attended car boot sales regularly
Bought some domain names
Took part in paid surveys - I would definitely recommend; valued opinions , panel opinion , Surveyfriends , toluna
I have joined numerous other survey sites but have had the most success with the ones above.
Remember: Never pay to join any survey site - its often a scam
