ok im back with another Excel query.
I dont use it very often so when i come back..i forget what ive already learned..!
I have a simple spreadsheet as follows
In columns B,C,D,E and so on I have particular dates
In Cell 2A I have "units"
In Cell 3A in have "Kwh"
Under the first date in column B i enter a number of units.
I construct a formula for Cell 3A which will calculate the value of Kwh from the figure entered in 2A
I now want to automate the process so that in subsequent columns C,D,E,F etc,,when i enter a figure in the "units" row, the calculation happens automatically and the result appears in the KWh row in each corresponding column.
I have had a go at defining names etc,,but i cant seem to make it happen.
I'm using libre office on ubuntu linux which is a clone of MS office..
Thanks all for any input !Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Once you've got the first column working successfully, just copy and paste that column into the adjacent column (to the right), and replace the values as appropriate.Stompa0

I'm hoping there is a more automated process....Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

The only way to automate this is to use VBA to move it to the next set of columns.
Is there any reason you can't swap the data around to it goes down the spreadsheet? If you can then you can just drag the formula down as far as necessary.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
There's nothing to stop you dragging across rather than down. But I agree that having it the other way around would be the more usual way of doing things. Is there any reason you can't swap the data around to it goes down the spreadsheet? If you can then you can just drag the formula down as far as necessary.Stompa0 -
hi guys...yes i had the vibe that i should be taking a top down approach !
Will have another play..taFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
