Long term child investment.

Hi guys.

I currently pay £65 a month into a Halifax savings account for my daughter. I would now rather invest in a long term fund of some kind to give to her when she reaches 21 years old.
She will be 3 in June and has around £3500 split between the Halifax childs account and a Nationwide one.

Can someone point me in the right direction please. :)

childrens bonus bonds are pretty good.. - they automatically come under her control at 18.. but they can be left in the account until they're 21 when they mature and recieve a bonus and are then released for whatever you want to do with them..

My great grandma used to buy me 1 £25 bond every 3 months (each of her great grandchildren in turn got one bought..) and they're worth quite a lot now..

but there might be better options..
