Mondeo - trip computer changing on its own!

Hi, well I'm new to all this but I had a funny experience this morning whilst driving to work and wanted to ask if anyone can give me some advice!
I've got an 07 Mondeo Titanium TDCi and whilst driving all the warning lights came on on the dashboard and both the speedo and rev counter needles shot up to the max. I noticed that the computer - which had been showing how many miles left until I needed to refuel - reset itself to show temperature info instead!
I didn't experience any loss of power during this and it happened in literally seconds.
Any ideas why this happened? Do I need to get it checked out?
Thanks in advance.

Your battery fell below 10 volts.
This causes a hard reset on the car electrics, it will turn off all switches bar headlights and wipers and engine .
Off goes the radio, heated windows front and back and heater blowers.
I take it you had "everything running" on a cold morning ?
It prevents the battery from damage from running flat by pulling the plug.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thank you for your quick reply and advice. Most appreciated. I guess I may need to replace my battery at some point.
Thanks again.0 -
Potentially.
You might also want to make sure you put some miles on the car at a decent speed.
That will help the battery charge properly rather than stop start traffic and it'll be good for the engine too as it's a diesel.
(assuming you were in standing traffic and as above, had all the power items running).
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Either a faulty battery or maybe a failing alternator.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Moder car electronics.
If it started ok later it wasn't the battery, they don't suddenly recover.
My car, parked outside house in quiet area. I'm working in the drive with the tailgate up whiles't unloading.
Car goes by, same brand, central locking tries to lock but can't due to open TG. Check key to ensure it's not fallen or been trod on and all ok. Lock car. 10 mins later same car comes back the other way and the car opens.:A:A:A
I'm just sat there looking at the keys on the wall andI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Thanks for that.
The same thing happened to me on my Mondeo two years ago.
As it had never happened before or since in decades
of driving I had convinced myself I must have been hallucinating.0 -
I had convinced myself I must have been hallucinating.
Come see the car we have then! Turn it off and the entire dash still stays lit up, warning lights come on and the hazards start flashing away.. except outside the car they're not flashing!
Really freaky.. everything inside the car was blinking and flashing like mad. I shot out fast and ripped out the battery.. whoever heard of a haunted car eh?0 -
Customised by some chav?
Ripped out all his flashy blue neons?
Maybe its a chav transformer in disguise?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
