Help With Faulty Persona Contraceptive Monitor Please

I agree 10 years isn't bad, but I don't understand how all the functions can appear to work (as they did when I did the reset) and then suddenly a fault can appear. The monitor definitely did not get damp or have leaky batteries and has not been dropped as suggested by the lady on the help line.
I suppose I really just want to know if the day 6 with the book symbol really does mean the monitor can't be fixed or whether they were just trying to get another £60 out of me. The leaflet that comes with the monitor says that if you get a number 5 or 6 with the book symbol you need to phone the help line which to me suggests it's a common fault or problem.0 -

Slightly off topic now I know but I would just like to add that I don't know why so many people frown upon natural methods of birth control. There are people who for medical or religious reasons cannot use other methods of birth control, and I'd like to add that ALL of my friends who have children had them by accident (even within marriage) whilst using the pill, so no method is 100% effective. The only method of contraception that protects against STI's is the condom and even that does not protect against ALL STI's. People using other methods of contraception such as the pill, patches, coils, caps etc do not get called 'irrisponsible' yet they are not protected from STI's in any way at all. I think natural methods of birth control are great as long as they are used properly within a stable relationship where STI's are not an issue. It's great to be in tune with your body and not be pumped full of artificial chemicals/hormones. It's all down to personal choice.0

Get rid of the Personna. There are far better monitors on the market today.
A new monitor will cost you approx £170 per year if you by a new one including the test sticks. If you buy a temperature monitor for £149 you will save approx £30 in the first year alone, plus you will find these new monitors are far more accurate than personna, also they are immediately usable you don't have to get through a first month to find out your red days.
I can't remember than name of the monitor at the mo - going though major brain shivers, than goodness for spell check, but if you Google contraception monitors there are 3 main ones, one costs £149 the most expensive is £500 but they work far better than Personna.
I used to use personna and after my second monitor i binned it.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

I was merely pointing out that no method of contraception is 100% effective even when used properly and they even say that on the packet! I'm sure in some cases contraception fails because the user made a mistake but like I said no method is 100% effective.
I know my ABC and my CMYK - Thanks for your advice but unfortunately because of my underlying health condition I can't rely on a device that uses temperature as an ovulation monitor. I assume that's how they work? I know there are some that test mucous (TMI - sorry) but I'm not sure about using those.0 -

Do you mind if I ask how long each monitor lasted and why you had to bin them? Did you get error codes as well?0 -

The monitor that cost £149 also does test mucous ( i know exactly what you mean).
I will try and find the website for you.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

I did get error codes plus they both didn't seem to pick up on ovulation anymore.
I went from a max of 8 red days a month to 7 green. So much to the point that I had blood tests done at my doctors to check everything was still running ok.
I have just recently binned one and am seriously considering buying an temperature ovulation monitor. They do say that health problems don't affect them.
Unfortunately I can't remember what the error codes were.
As for how long they lasted, not too sure but I think I bought my first around 1997/8 and the second around 7 years ago.
I'm sorry but my disability is interfering with my thinking to count backwards and add the years up, Can't think straight.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

Here's the link so you can research them. It also has a bit on the personna too. I have to say though I did find the personna messy.
Also when you consider the personna was 'invented' in the 90's there are going to be better / easier alternatives out there.
