    Thanks for all the assistance guys.
    He's decided he wants his machine back a.s.a.p. so I've had to restore the OS (It gave me an option to do just the OS restore when I hit Alt-F10 on startup).
    All his documents are safe, but he's got a bucket-load of Windows updates to do. I've installed Avira for him as it had an out of date instal of Mcrappee on it.
    I was hoping to fix it by following the advice on here, but he's got impatient.
