Completion Date

Hi everyone
I was just wondering if it's normal for us not to have a completion date yet? As quite a few people keep asking me and say it is so I thought I would ask the lovely people on here, their opinions!
We have had everything done, survey, searches etc etc. We have had the mortgage over to the solicitors and we have signed the contract and sent it off so we have done all we can on our side. I telephoned the solicitors on Monday and asked if we had a completion date on file yet and they said no, is this normal?? Thanks in advance

Have you had a discussion with your buyers and with your sellers yet, about what date you would like to be working towards? You would normally have a good idea by now (for example, in the sellers information form it asks whether you have any requirements re. completion dates) but you won't get a definite date until you exchange contracts, when you will exchange with completion set for xx\xx\xxxx. It sounds like you're nearly there, but it might be worth getting your EA to do a quick ring through the chain to make sure all your ideas match up and there are no nasty surprises (it only takes one person to have *ahem* very firm ideas to make it all a bit more complicated).Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...0

When you exchange contracts you should set a completion date.Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*
£11,860.00 needed = £1,106 in savings

Sorry should have added this info, quite important. We're both living at home so no further chain from us and the seller emigrated to Australia in October so the property is empty.:xmastree: :snow_laug Christmas Nutter :snow_laug:xmastree:0

In that case, I would imagine that your solicitor would giude you towards exchange asap, with completion a couple of days later (just enough time for the paperwork) unless either party comes up with a strong objection.Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...0
