Hi everyone. I'd really appreciate some help and advice with a car parking ticket I got last weekend from a company called 'Car Parking Partnership'.
I parked at my university's carpark - which I admit is permit only and I don't have one- but despite there being at least 20 other cars without permits I was the only one that received a ticket, because I had parked in a bay that is reserved for motorcycles.
I've been reading lots of other threads that say not to pay up and to ignore the threatening letters you receive. I've also read that the 'breach of contract' only concerns the driver of the car and the company, not the owner of the car. Is all of this correct?
If so, as I'm not the owner of the car, should my partner (the owner) write to the company to tell them it wasn't him, he won't tell them who it was and they are not to contact him again? Or should he ignore the letters altogether? Also, does anyone know if they're particularly persistant?
Thanks!

Yes to ignoring them and not engaging with them at all. Yes to they will be persistent but will eventually give up in 99.9% of cases."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

The three most important things to do are ignore, ignore and ignore again. This silly charge is not legally enforceable.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

If you are in the 0.001% where they decide to do court, then with a good defence they either lose the case, do a no-show or try and pull out of action.0

Thanks everyone!
They take you to the small claims where you defend it with the help of the guys over on the pepipoo forum, you will win they will have egg on their faces. If you lose you will have to pay what the judge's judgement , which is normally the amount chased. You will have 28 days to pay that, if you fail to do so you could get a ccj and maybe a bailiff chasing you.
But the chances of that are as remote as you striking oil in your back garden.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
this is exactly how these scammers work,,frighten you that much you will pay up,,so dont otherwise ime coming round to get that oil from your back garden,,its a scam,,chill, relax, nout to worry about, completely and uterley ignore all threat o grams you will recieve,,it really will not go to court,,if it does the case in front of you wil be the pope getting a divorce, now relax.sleep well.0
