Hi all.
I attach a copy o an email I have sent to the firm that caused damage when they delivered a fridge on a 60m2 wooden flooring I had just had laid to the downstairs of my house nd there are no door breaks it is seamless all the way through the house.
Any advice will be appreciated as not looking good for me at the moment as the drivers allege I did this when I moved it when they left!!!!!!
As discussed earlier today.
I have just 2 weeks ago spent £4000 on a new floor throughout my house and I can provide the invoice for this from the building firm that supplied and fitted the flooring for me.
When your delivery driver called me this morning I went into my garage and took a small piece of card for the fridge to sit on when the guys brought it in to my home.
When they arrived I advised them to be careful as I had just had a new floor fitted and they were rapidly on my driveway trying to unwrap the fridge from the box as quickly as they could trying to cut the packaging with a key.....
They got the fridge out and then lifted it out of the polystyrene and wooden base it was in and then brought it into my house. They carried the fridge so that the doors of the fridge were on the side and so they picked the fridge up by its left side and carried it in that way. :(Left side of fridge was facing down to the floor)
I advised them again of the card but before they put the card in place the guy lifting the front of the fridge put his end down and only the left hand side of the fridge was on the card the right side was not. Once it was placed down he then tried to move the card under it and pushed the fridge back then into the place it was going to go under the stairs.
He asked me to sign straight away and I advised him that I was told I should check it over first by Jamie the salesman in Brentwood. I gave it a quick check and they went.
He said he could not take the rubbish with him and I was sure that I was told when I brought it they would but that was not an issue as I could bag it up.
As they left the fridge was very wobbly and the delivery man told me that I would need to adjust the feet, they then left.
I looked under the fridge and there was a foot on the left side but not on the right side and this was why it was so wobbly.
As I looked on the right side I could see that where there was no foot in place, the bare metal corner of the fridge had gone into my flooring when they initially put that part down before sliding the card under it, one of the delivery men pushed the fridge back into place and as there was no foot as one of the guys had pushed it back the card had moved from under it as when pushing it that side of the fridge must have lifted up off of the floor.
So when I inspected the fridge after they had left the card that was there had just got caught and was now not protecting that corner.
I therefore called Stellison Brentwood right away to advise them of this and they told me they have insurance for this and they would get the warehouse manager to call me ASAP.
I looked at the manual and it clearly said there are 2 foots on the front of the fridge to adjust so one was clearly missing.
I then went to see if the foot was in the packaging still they had left me outside on my drive and in the base where they had lifted the fridge out of there was the foot. Pic attached.
They had not seen this when they carried it in as if they had have made sure this was on the fridge when they put the fridge down this side would have been protected like the left side was as that side has not caused any damage at all.
I have screwed this foot in now and all is fine and you can move the fridge around on my floor on its rear wheels without any issues at all and not causing any marks.
I attached pics of the damage and also the packaging where the foot was left.
I look forward to hearing from you ASAP.
Regards.
