Have 'log makers' for £19.95.
You soak unwanted paper, put it in the log maker, dry it out and they burn the same was as a wooden log.
Useful if you are worried about putting statements etc. in the bin.

I've got one of these log makers and they can be great messy fun - if you've got kids get them to do it!

The logs take AGES to dry out though so try and make a few each week and lay them out singly, somewhere warm and dry.

I thought 'twas rather nifty, some people are worried about throwing away bills etc. so excellent from a security point of view.
Didn't think of drying them out though :-/

Hi,
Mr Looney decided that we didnt need a log maker. He rolls up our old papers very very tight around a wet stick, rolling them gradually, not all at once if you know what I mean. Then he ties it tightly quarter way from the end with some wet string (as it dries it goes tighter). Then he cuts it in half (to fit on the fire). It burns for a good 6 hours with a shovelful of dross. We've been doing this for years .... it saves us a fortune ..... no need for a log maker and you dont need to wait for it to dry!!

This thread wasn't going to be what I thought but I'll leave my little comment anyway.

One of the girls at work has a chiminea and she take all of our old pallets from work. It takes a little elbow grease to saw them up but she always insists that they are the best free wood she has ever got her hands on.

Tis nifty! By the time you've wet the bills and then squashed them in bits you could never read them! Airing cupboard would be a bit messy probably - we use the shed.

Hmm, didnt think of that, I was thinking more along the lines of storing them so they get really dry and burn longer.
I love the DIY ones above!
