Would it be illegal to buy in bulk from Tesco to sell on?

OP, you must always remember that no shop has to sell to you.
If Tesco decide that five Mars bars is the limit per customer, then that is the limit.
There is no law which says they must do otherwise.
And if they like, they can refuse to sell you anything at all.
No reason has to be given.0 -
Use a cash and carry, the supermarket are well within they're rights to cancel the order.0

Firstly it is not illegal to buy from Tesco and sell on
The 'do not split multi pack labels' do not prevent you from splitting them and selling.
The only issue you may face is that most packed foods need labelling, often this will only be on the other wrapper, so if the single item inside the multipack doesnt have the labelling then you will probably be rbeaching food labelling regulations.
As mentioned above, Tesco do not have to sell to you and can limit what you buy or even to sell to you at all if you take the mick.
IMO you are better off goign in once or twice a week - continually going in will make you easy to recognise. That said, they may not sell you 20 multipacks of Mars bars in one hit.0 -
thanks everyone, is it just me or sometimes you feel you know Tesco rules better than Tesco staff themselvesThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Or you can amend your staff's contracts to state that they will be required on occasions to assist in buying goods. Every little helps!:T"I think I spent 72.75% of my life last year in the office. I need a new job!!"0

lost count of the number of times we nip down to supermarkets if we have ran out of food..!0

Tesco do limit the quantity you can buy - a while ago I was buying 12 clipboards (uni project!) and got a right mouthful from the cashier asking if I had actually left any on the shelf! They had a limit of 10 items per customer (pointed me towards a small sign on the CS desk stating so) but when I told her I'd leave them all then she shouted over to the supervisor who sighed and went oh let her have them this time!!0

What did the woman on the customer service desk actually say to you?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I didnt think they would care like in 2000 i brought 20 simcards for 1pound each and sold them for 5 pound each and a lady in the dicount store in skeg told me she dont care what i do with them those were the days0

They don't need a sign to refuse to sell you any item.
It's private goods in a private shop on private property - they can sell whatever they like to whomever they like for any price that they want to (assuming the customer wants to offer that amount of money).Thinking critically since 1996....0
