PPI on Mortgage through independant advisor

Hi,
I took out a mortgage with Northen Rock in 2007 through an independant mortgage advisor. The advisor also advised me to take out a PPI with payment shield on my mortgage. Can anyone tell me whether I would be able to make a claim on this ?

Claim on what grounds? No reason they wouldn't advise it, standard practice with a big credit commitment like a mortgage.0

Claim as in being off work due to illness or unemployment or complaint?
