If in doubt, transfer out leaving behind a token amount. This way you can pick up the bonus. I did not do this but I got my 0.2% bonus on the 12 months anniversary of opening a few months after the April interest payment was paid.

But - as post #16 - you can't do that if the ISA only contains current year subscriptions.

If you had made your initial opening of the account in August. and then received an interest payment in April the following year, then the money in the account is free to be transferred to other ISA accounts. You have to keep some money in the account to get the additional bonus in August.

The bonus savings incentive has recently died a death at Halifax perhaps due to the confusing terms and conditions.

    But will it?

Either the ISA was opened before April 2011, in which case it'll contain something from 2010/11 or earlier, or it was opened in or after April 2011, in which case you don't need to worry about it until your year is up.

The transfer has now completed. Looking at the interest paid and comparing to my calculation, it seems I have received the 0.2% automatically. Therefore I'd assume it is based on account opening date, not receipt of the opening transfer.

    Account opened 15th February 2011 with £0.00.
Transfer received 3rd March 2011 (interest backdated to 15th Feb).
    Transfer out 20th February 2012.

I`m just glad to hear about someone who`s actually received the 0.2% reward bonus.
