Nationwide Agreement in Principle

Hi all,

Today I heard back from my Mortgage broker that my credit check was passed. I am a first time buyer and was very happy about passing (I have been so worried!). The next stage is for me and my financial advisor to fill out the full application form. (I have already reserved a house)

Do they check my credit rating again? Is there the possibility that I could be declined? I don't think I could deal with the worry all over again! :(

ta in advance!

    Probably not.

Possibly. There are several stages to go through and the mortgage is only guaranteed when completion has taken place and the purchase monies paid over to the vendor's solicitor.

  • Hi,
How did you get on with your mortgage?
We're in a similar situation and just wondering what nationwide ask for in their full application form?
Our agreement in principle certificate asked us to provide payslips, p60, proof of name & address but nothing about bank statements as others have suggested.
    Fingers crossed!
  • I applied for a Nationwide mortgage 2 weeks ago today. Directly - not through a broker. The valuation took place last Thursday and an offer was issued on Friday. Just waiting for the offer paperwork to arrive. We were notified by email and text. When we applied we had to provide P60, most recent payslip and proof of deposit.

Lucky you. I applied directly 5 weeks ago and still waiting to hear.. getting quite annoyed at how slow things happen and how theres no communication from them at all... grrr..
  • seems to me that those applying directly are getting a faster service.

My broker informed me that Nationwide are running 8 days behind.

We got our decision in principle on Monday from Nationwide so are now house hunting. They ran a credit check on us and we both passed but never looked at bank statements. I had requested 3 months from my online banking just incase. When applying for the full mortgage will they need bank statements and will these 3 be ok? I will get charged if I go and ask for more from the bank!

Very nervous, hoping everything goes smoothly!

by the time you find a house, apply, they ask for statements, you send statements, they eventually look at statements, then they'll come back and ask for more recent ones!
