Night Storage Heaters - Economy 7

Help please on behalf of my 88 y/old mum.
She has these heaters and is not sure if she should switch them off at the wall socket in the morning and on again at night (there is no on/off switch on the actual heater).
Would doing this affect the meter timer so that it can't tell when the meter should switch from the day units to night units (hope this makes sense).
She would prefer to have them switched off during the day because of the fire risk (she religiously switches off all her other appliances when not in use, since a fire safety visit !).
Thanks
Miss H

Will make no difference. The circuit is de-energised during peak hours so they are switched off during the day anyway (unless they have a second switch for a fan which is operated from the normal circuit)0

The only real fire risk with storage heaters is if you put anything on them. Make sure curtains don't touch them. Don't dry clothes on them. Just give them plenty of space and they will be fine.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

..assuming that they were 'correctly' installed in the first place. Think positive !:beer:0 -
Tell your mum that they are essentially a pile of bricks(they really are!) that are heated during the night and release heat during the day.0
