Where to Start?!

Right lets go,
Myself and OH are wanting to get married June 2013. As of yet, nothing has been planned but we are inundated with wedding brochures. We are on a pretty strict budget as are saving for a house and family etc.

Does anyone know any cheap but nice venues within 60-90mins from Teesside?!

Also, I was at a recent wedding fayre and there was a wedding dress tailor that makes your dress how you want it. Now I have pretty set ideas how I want my dress to look so does anyone have any recommendations for dress tailors within the area?

We are determined to get married on a budget as a wedding to us is showing everyone we love each other and want to spend our lives together not spending thousands and getting into debt! :rotfl:

Thank in advance :D

Are you wanting a civil ceremony or church ceremony?

How many people as a guestimate are you wanting to invite (day and night)?

Which area of Teesside are you looking at?
  • Either or, and roughly 50 for day and about 80 for the evening. We have looked all over lol. Up to Newcastle Down To Leeds and in between

What budget are you looking at?

I'm getting married in Tynemouth. The hotel is charging £100 for the ceremony room and we are not having a meal afterwards, just drinks and canapes, so would this be something you could maybe look at?

The night time is £25 a head for hot buffet and includes dj etc. If you have to stick to a budget maybe you could get married later on and have the evening as your main food?

What budget do you have for your guests and is that to include everything?

We are getting married in The Park Hotel and the evening reception is at Crusoes, the place on the beach at the bottom of the hill.

first you need to do a budget for everything that you want for the day

    registrar fees
    giving notice fees
    ceremony venue
    reception venue
    dress
    accessories for you
    groom outfit
    best man/ bridesmaids
    food
    drinks
    invitations
    decoration for venue
    flowers
    rings
    transport

that is just my quick list there are loads of things that can be done cheaply or totally left out

firstly check the registrar fees to see how much you actually have to play with

good luck and let us know how you are doing!!
The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 5
  • we have a rough budget set out.
    also, we saw online a certain hotel chain have an offer for £999 for 50 day guests and 100 evening. we have contacted them and they said that they could do this as it says 'from' however, it only says it excludes 2 hotels they messaged us back stating;

"Please look at the word FROM this covers us to change our deals.

And this is generic advert for all the hotels so some hotels are not offering this rate at all and others are.

I can confirm that we are not participating in this offer.

Please contact head office if you feel that this us unfair."

Is there anything we can do about this? My partner was saying maybe contact Trading standards?
  • Where is the ad? I'll have a look and see if there is anything dodgy I can see. I work in online marketing so know the legal rules.
  • its on britannia hotels. i can't post links yet. Thanks
