Is there a way to find out if you had PPI

Hi All
1st time poster (but have lurked for a while).
I have rang my bank, Natwest and they have told me I did have PPI on my 2 credit cards and have started the ball rolling for me. I have also had to write to a place in Edinburgh to access all information on the loans I have taken out with Natwest to see if I was mis-sold PPI on these too.
My query now is that I have had numerous credit cards over the years (Mint, EGG, Virgin, MBNA) but no longer have any info relating to them. Is there a way I can find out if I have had PPI on any of these without any information??
Many thanks

Ask them
However, be aware that most destroy data on closed accounts quite quickly. Even those that are open destroy typically after 6-10 years. In the case of Egg, if you closed it before Barclaycard took over, then Barclaycard wont have any information. So, you can close the door on that one.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thnaks for your reply.
So basically I write to them giving my name, address and date of birth and ask them for a copy of my credit card agreement with them and enclose a postal order for a £1 - is this right??

No. For closed accounts you cannot use the £1 method. That only applies to debts/accounts still outstanding. You need to use the £10 subject access request method.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
