I'm pretty certain they do, hence their ability to conduct an audit trail if there are any problems.

They definitely log some details (enough to identify your account), but which I'm not sure.

I'm not sure what is logged at the ATM, although that may include your card number (PAN). However, the PAN and lots more information will definitely be recorded on the host system that authorises ATM transactions. Is there a reason why you are asking? If there is and you explain we can probably be a bit more specific in our answers.

Hi There Yes i am asking because my husband made a withdrawal from Santandar ATM ,i loathe Santandar having seen so many complaints regarding money getting taken (fraud)and i think its insiders,i am now worrying if they have collected our bank account info as the debit card used is our main bank account and i'm worried someone may use the info to commit fraud.
I know this sounds a little barmey but trust me i've read so many horror stories we've always stayed away from santandar for this reason.

I think your getting a little to carried away here withdrawing cash from a santandar atm is 100% safe unless the atm has been tampered with from the outside by card scammers

OK i accept what you say i know my fears can jump hoops but i freaked when i saw him using that ATM,just wanted to know does santandar now have all our banking details? or just the card signature for cash withdrawn.
This bank has a vast amount of fraud being done to Uk accounts every other day the experts in the DM get complaints and its always accounts with large sums in them (several grand).

So does every other bank - why pick on one?

If that's what's worrying you then you have two options:

    1) Get your wages paid in cash and keep it under the matress, bypassing all of the banks completely.
    2) Only use your own bank's ATMs, they already have your information so you won't be giving anything more away.

Neither are particularly practical ways of living these days. The chances of your data being stolen by one of the few Santander employees who would have access to the information recorded by an ATM transaction is miniscule, unlikely to be significantly different to other banks, and would almost certainly result in the sacking and possible prosecution of the person responsible.

Aren't all these machines operated by the same organistaion (LINK) on behalf af nearly all the banks, so that whatever bank name is on the casing of the one you use, it is the same operators anyway?
