Cinema Only Free Tickets Discussion thread

The more threads there are available for people to choose where to post, the more complicated it gets.
Already, we have people who cannot distinguish between where competition posts go and often people post theatre, concert and tv show codes on the cinema codes thread.
When people are rushing to help the members of this forum (often using phones) they want simplicity.
Your suggestion means more threads to subscribe to which means more times posts can be missed. If an alert goes unnoticed or several posts are deleted by a BG, this can mean some people won't get another alert. By having multiple codes threads, this multiplies that possibility.
It's not a case of being stubborn, it's a case of using common sense.
I agree, people already post chat and non cinema codes on the codes
thread and an alternative codes thread would just complicate it even more!
Also if it did go through and 2 threads were created, as posted before, it would have to go on the low spend board so wouldn't even be on the same board as the current thread.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Its 1 extra thread, I don't think people would get that confused if the title was clear. If it was something like 'Subscription Only (Times +, Sun etc.) Free Cinema Ticket Codes'. People only really read the first few words of a thread title before deciding whether to post there or not. I think the reason people 'chat' in the codes only thread is because the titles are not the clearest and there is nothing that actually distinguishes them within those first few words. Maybe adding 'CODES ONLY' and 'DISCUSSION' to the beginnings of the names would help with that.
And I think it would actually be the opposite of your second point. At the moment, because there are regular posts, which are not relevant to the full target audience of the thread, people come on, see its not for them and go off again (often when doing this via your phone you are not logged in to the forum) and so you miss the next post alert as you say. If there were less but more relevant posts in each of those threads, then people would be visiting less and therefore actually LESS chance of having missed posts.
But anyway, you guys seem bent against this without even trying it out so I'm not going to spend my time pushing it anymore. Just thought I would try and suggest an improvement. The fact that this comes up regularly should send a message that there is a better way of doing this.
Thanks once again to the people posting free tickets and codes :T0 -

There is already CODES ONLY and DISCUSSION on the thread titles?
If there were two threads for codes, it would still have people getting an email alert and then logging on only to find that it's a sun code and they don't subscribe to the sun but only subscribe to another payable subscription so nothing would be achieved at all by splitting them.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Very good point. As I said, it's all about common sense.
It would end up as separate threads for each subscription service which would cause chaos.0 -

Yes but like I said people don't read the full title. Putting that at the end of title isn't the best because people have already made up their mind up about posting there after reading 'Free Cinema Tickets'.
And I agree it wouldn't solve the issue for everyone but would certainly be a step in the right direction. Anyone who doesn't have a subscription would not be visiting the thread which has subscription based codes. Not sure about you guys but to me, that is what common sense is.0 -

If people can't read CODES ONLY NO CHAT then I despair and I don't know what would help that cause !
Common sense is to keep them all on one thread, if there was to be a separate thread for subscription based codes then there would have to be one for The Sun, one for The Times etc and that would be nothing short of chaos and a total waste of time.
As the old saying goes, if it aint broke, don't fix it.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. The thread is called Free Cinema tickets, that doesn't stop people from posting all manner of different offers.
It also says No Chat which still doesn't stop people from posting chat.
Maybe you haven't noticed the various amounts of extraneous posts on that thread over the years.
Common sense is needed but is not often used.0 -

I don't think its that they're not able to Sarah, more that, especially if you are in a rush and you think you have the gist of a title, you don't really pay much attention to the ending. And you never know, being really specific and clear in the thread and separating them to Times +, Sun etc may actually work better than you think.
And Poochface, this is a forum, you are always going to have people posting in the wrong thread/board or even forum, but I don't see why that should hinder you trying to improve it for those who do use it properly. Whether you change things or not, those erroneous posts are still going to be there.
Your choice, but like I said the fact that this has been brought up by multiple people certainly doesn't suggest 'it aint broke'.
I am off out now anyway, hope you both have a great day.0
