Quick question on the Sun perks - if I were to sign up for a trial, would I be eligible straight away to go for Planes 2 tickets? Or does taht only kick in after I start paying?
As soon as you're registered fully, you can book tickets. You do have to go to the perks page to do it though.

What We Did On Our Holiday screening not for over a month. Have they released tickets that early before or could they have gotten the date wrong?

Total Film screenings have been released quite some time before screening date and it has happened for other SFF previews in the past but not often.

On the ticket it says - Terms and conditions - This is a Heat Magazine Preview. A copy of the page in Heat Magazine is required to validate ticket. No photocopies.

Do you need to have this with you when you go to the cinema?

No, the staff at the cinemas couldn't care less about them. I was asked for a page once, years ago and the cinema soon gave up because nobody had it with them.

Only time I was ever asked for a page was for The Mail screening of Les Mis. As with Poochface, the staff gave up pretty quickly as the line of those without the page grew bigger and more annoyed.

I will say, that in my instance, the cinema had received an email from the publication involved stating that no admission would be allowed unless the page was produced. However, as this information was not on the actual ticket, the cinema could not enforce it.

Would it not have been a better idea to update the original post for The Congress to include the new codes than to have people receive numerous emails and come check out the site numerous times for a film they can't go to because it's only in London?

    To put it bluntly, NO.

Firstly, IF you update an existing post then anyone who has already read that post (as the result of getting an email notification) will be totally unaware that a new code (or indeed several) now resides in the Codes Only thread. Until they get a subsequent notification they potentially have no reason to revisit the thread let alone that specific post, at least not with any particular urgency, which defeats the point of having selected the INSTANT Email Notification subscription in the first place.

Secondly, ONLY those that DID RESPOND to the original "Congress" post's "notification email" and having LOGGED IN (if required) and actually read the Codes Only thread would have received a 2nd "Congress" notification, and to get the 3rd one they would have had to respond to the 2nd. That's how it works.
Indeed anyone who didn't respond to their notification for my 1st post of the evening for PRIDE within 83 minutes would not have received ANY further emails for ANY of my "Congress" posts. They will only have the one for PRIDE.

As for "because it's only in London", what about those that actually LIVE in London? Over 8 million people in Greater London and nearly 3 million in Inner London isn't it? I'm sure a lot of them are MSE members.
Following your logic I should rant and rave every time anyone posts film details that send me an email notification and I respond only to find out is is a "nationwide" screening but only at VUE cinemas, or PICTUREHOUSE venues, both of which are pointless for a "free" (not less than actually paying for it) redemption from my location.
