How much for a builder to INSTALL a conservatory

We're looking at getting a conservatory and its seeming a much cheaper option to buy one from Wickes, Homebase etc and pay a builder to install, rather than go through a conservatory company and have a custom build.

We're looking for a small lean-to built about 3m deep by 5m long and would need someone to do the groundwork, build the dwarf brick wall, and fit the conservatory including looking at drainage options, electricity and heating etc.

1. Has anyone done this and how did it work out?

2. How much for this? Builders won't give me a price up front and I just want a ballpark so we can cost up our options. I'm estimating about 3-4k?

Any advice appreciate on this subject!

Sarah

itll be a lot cheaper to get the full length panels, so no need for the brick wall.
    Get some gorm.
  • Think long and hard, a conservatory is another word for Greenhouse.

They are not regarded as a habitable room because of the heat loss problem. Look at all the people looking to replace their roofs because they are too hot in summer and too cold in winter. Be sure you know all the pitfalls before you commit.

The other problem is that if something goes wrong, the builder will be blaming wickes etc, and wickes etc will be blaming the builder. Not a good long term solution.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
