While I am loathe to encourage you to leave University and study exclusively form home, have you considered studying with the Open University?0

It's not unreasonable to expect you to abide by the rules of the academic institute, it sounds like you have got out of the habit and are missing out on the wider benefits of university life.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

If your health is suffering are you getting help from medical professionals? Have you spoken to your university about your problems? - if they're not aware then they cannot be supportive.
They can 'kick you out' because of attendance unless you have a very good reason for your poor attendance record and they're willing to accept that you can keep up with the academic rigours of university study. But you need to speak to the tutor and explain your issues.
In terms of learning without attendance this really depends on your course/department and the reasons you have for doing this. Again the only way to know if this is possible is to speak to your tutor.
As VfM said unless you've been keeping your tutor up to date with why your attendance is so bad he's going to presume you couldn't careless about the degree or university and therefore why should he bother about you.
As for 'favourites' this can often be explained by differences in the way students interact with their tutor. I was considered a 'favourite' because I spent a lot of time with my tutor, and got extra lab time. But this was simply because I was fascinated by his particular research so made a point of asking about it. Plus I had major health problems so made sure I had regular contact to keep him upto date with the issues and what I was doing about them.
To my knowledge no one on my course resented me for any of this because they knew the basics of my problems and they had their own interests.
If you're not going to take part in university life either because of your health or because you cannot be bothered to make the effort then it is worth considering transferring the credits you've received so far to the OU and when you feel upto it you can continue your degree that way.
Or if it's strictly a health issue which you are trying to deal with a better option could be to speak to your tutor and defer for a year and come back in September - you'll be with a different group of people and hopefully with improved health.0 -

Possibly, but also perhaps because of your standard of English!0 -
If you think life is hard at Uni. Wait until you get out into the real world.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Hang on the OP suffer from Anxiety and depression, making OP feel even more low isn't going to help. Suffering from Depression and anxiety myself I know how difficult it can be, I wouldn't be so quick to Judge. Chloo have you seen a doctor?, have you tried meds?, i would try to explain to your tutor on a confidential basis and explain the situation. Failing that speak with the Uni Counsellor who may be able to communicate your problems with the tutor on your behalf. If you have exhausted all avenues or just want out, i personally wouldn't suffer further. How about taking a interrupt until you sort out your issues, continuing with OU, or leaving until you have your anxiety and depression resolved. If you simply hate Uni and can't deal with it, its not the end of the world, talk to a careers advisor to discuss other options.0

I suffer from a lack of empathy for those who blame their problems on others. Some might call me a 'sociopath'.
Suffering from depression does not make everyone around you 'children'.
Calling your tutor 'a bit of a tit' is not 'depression'. Actually, I'd call it the reverse - sounds like an ego problem to me.
Generally those with depression have a lowered sense of self-worth, not exactly the attitude expressed in this thread.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”

Perhaps not to you, but depression manifests differently to each individual, if thats how the OP feels who's to argue (don't answer that). The OP wasn't looking for empathy but advice.
Just out of interest are you saying you have no empathy for those with PTSD, rape victims, child abuse etc. I can remind you your not hear to judge, i personally believe if you have nothing constructive to say, be decent and keep your thoughts to yourself.0 -

Of course I have empathy for the aforementioned groups, however I would not extend as far as forgiving them for actions which are completely unrelated.
Depression is a personal problem. Acting as if your tutor and other people are responsible for your state is completely different.
I think that it is constructive to mention that perhaps the 'child' here is the OP, and that they may wish to reconsider their viewpoints.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
