Somewhere to stay half way between London and Leeds

We have some friends who live in Leeds who we want to meet for the weekend. We've decided we'll meet about half way between London and Leeds.

Any ideas firstly where half way is and secondly of any nice places to stay?

Warwick...? Oxford...?

You could try Stoneleigh Park Lodge (15 mins from Warwick), or Oxford's only five star hotel, the Macdonald Randolph Hotel, if you wanted to go really posh...

The MAcdonald Hotel looks lovely. WE've stayed in a few and they've always been excellent. We are off to stay in one in two weeks time.

In Oxford I recently stayed at the Cotswold Lodge hotel and that was really nice- got good deal through laterooms.com
