Warrany Issue - Wrong Item Returned After Repair Under Warranty

I recently returned my expensive Mitsubishi dehumidifier for repair under warranty.
When I received the 'repaired' item it was in different packaging, dirtier and older looking than the oone I had sent in and indeed had a different and much older serial number.
I complained to Meaco, the official warranty/repair service for these items and they told me that they had replaced the back panel with a new one (with the new serial number) because mine had been damaged in transit (by the couriers they had arranged and paid for). None of this was mentioned in the paperwork they sent back detailing the repair.
BTW I sent the unit back very carefully packaged in ALL of its original packaging.
When I tried the unit it appears to have a different lead and plug (as I have another unit and until this service they were identical) and it has a serious fault which the unit I sent in did not have and is mouldy inside. Their assertion that the unit is the same one I sent seems to me to be less and less plausible.
What can I do? I am convinced that the unit is not mine, it is much older and it has serious fault which severely limit its use. The company do not reply to my emails but have requested, by phone, that it is returned to them (presumably for repair) as they admit no fault or error on their part.
Suggestions as to what I can do from here would be gratefully received.
