PPI claim ... any ideas?

We have recently claimed PPI from Barclay's bank who have replied and are looking into 2 loans. They have informed us that any money that needs to be re payed to us will be payed into an account that my wife had. This account is in arrears and is under an arrangement with PayPlan.

Can we insist that the PPI claim is paid to us in the form of a cheque?
The claim on the PPI is from old loans previously paid in full , but the debt on the account that the money will be deposited in is from much more recent overdraft arrears and Barclay's have said they will reclaim any money that is owed from this.

they can take arrears off any redress,dont know how this affects you though if this was a joint loan,you could ring and ask for your share of the redress,as the arrears are your wifes,they may help or they may not,you wont know until you try.
