If you want the problems fixed, it makes sense to let them in to fix them.
Who knows when he will be next available?

you can either insist that they fix things within a specific time frame, and write two letters giving them deadlines - or, if they do not do this, talk to Trading Standards as to what legislation you can quote with regard to taking them to court to get them to pay you money so that you can pay someone else to do the remedial works. As suggested earlier, a Structural survey will highlight Everything that is wrong with the property - and if you tell them that this is your plan, they may well get on and fix things.

from what you have said they are fobbing you off with a "handyman" story. You need the Site Manager.
  • Thats what I thought I didnt want them to send the handyman in then they say well our handymans been in to sort everything so thats the end of it!

I'll be honest I havn't got the money for a structural survey or a court case and perhaps they're banking on this??

The ideal scenario is that they dig up the the drains and correctly fit them whilst putting us up in a hotel as we will not be able to enter the property as the drains are right outside and I wouldnt want my baby near them. Then they send the handyman in to correct the little poor quality jobs and then they give us some kind of compensation for all the worry extra cost and inconvenience.

I cant see this all being sorted that way though can you? Oh if only it was a perfect world. :-(

Why is it important for the handyman to come in after the drains have been done? Are the jobs connected?

  • The major job the handyman needs to do is the paving infront of the house. There is no point in doing this first as this is would just need digging up anyway.

Therefore they might aswell get the drains done then he can do the paving and the garden as it should have been and at the same time he can then do the other odd jobs
