How do I get agreement numbers from old loans dating back to 1997 for PPI?

Hi there,
Could anyone help me re: Lloyds TSB Personal Loans dating back before 1997?
After my local branch refused to help ( they say they don't hold any documentation before 2002 ) I spent nearly a whole day on the phone, ringing various different departments and was basically fobbed off! I tried to get a credit report on-line, as apparently I was told they would have the relevant agreement numbers needed to make a PPI Claim. But to no avail. Back to square one. No paperwork or necessary numbers - so is that it? Nothing we can do?
Would be really most grateful if anyone knows!
Thanks

You can really only claim back any payments made within the last 6 years. Banks don't keep information forever so if you don't have it the bank doesn't have it then there is nothing you can do.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

You are correct in that due to the time scale, they will not have this info, but people have won on this site with ppi from the 90s me included, and one was just with a settlement figure,so you dont know until you try

When were these loans repaid?,know its a long shot, but you could ask the bank that the DD was taken out,if they still have this info, then the account number will be there,it is possible they dont have this info either, but you wont know unless you ask.

I simply went to my branch and told them that I was making a claim against them , because I felt I was mis-sold PPI on a number of claims and asked them for a list of all reference numbers for loans and credit cards held against my name.

She tapped into her terminal behind the counter and brought up a list instantly and then printed me a copy (see below).

You can quite clearly see that there are some accounts that go back before 1997.

I have heavily edited out a lot of information that is personal to me , but I hope it helps in some way (just replace the "hxxp" with "http")
