if you are unwell on the day you are supposed to sign on but don't think that you are likely to be ill for longer than 2 weeks you phone up on the day you are due to sign and tell them you are ill. They will send you a form out that you have to sign and give a brief description of your illness. Your JSA payment will be delayed as they can't issue a payment until they receive your form back.
If you think you are going to be ill for longer than 2 weeks then you will need to go to your GP and get a sick note (or fit note as they are now known) and make a claim for ESA.0 -
How will you know how long you might be ill for?
Won't they just say 'come in when you're feeling better?' (ie come in tomorrow you lazy git!)0 -
I believe you're allowed 2 instances of being sick in a year. Could be wrong. You may have an idea how long the sickness will last if for example you have a stomach bug and not a broken leg. They will ask you to sign on as normal 2 weeks later, but may still have to prove you've been job hunting in the 2 weeks prior.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Second time you have asked this :

Are you ill? Are you planning to be ill?
Its usually easier to be honest and blunt and just ask the question on your mind.
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0 -

You are allowed 2 periods of sickness of upto 14 days in a 12 month period while in receipt of JSA. As has been mentioned, if it is for more than 14 days then you will need to sign off of JSA and claim ESA with a "fit note" from your GP.
And to be honest that's a more generous sickness allowance than is allowed for the staff.0 -
If that's true then staff should stand up for themselves. It's not the claimant's that make the rules is it!
divide and rule, just the way the tories want it!0 -
It's not true0

OK you can be ill for up to 14 days twice a year, but in reality that isn't going to happen.
Last year I had to call in sick twice, but I was actually only too ill to go and sign on for about 3 days in total, the first was when I got tonsillitis which turned into quinsy, on the day I was supposed to sign on I was burning up so much I was hallucinatingbut after a couple of days on the antibiotics I would have been well enough to drag myself to sign on. The second time I had a stomach bug, which my son had thoughtfully shared with me, It only lasted 24 hours and I would have been well enough to go and sign on the next day.
So thats actually just 3 days sick, if I had got any other illness I wouldn't have had any "sick leave" left.0 -

You asked the question over a month ago so are you planning on going sick or have you been sanctioned for being sick?
If you were in employment and earned less than £102 per week you get nothing but if you are on JSA you can still get your benefit with less proof demanded?????????????? madness.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
