Selling Power to the Grid
I didnt realise how difficult it was to actually speak to a person for advice on selling power back to the grid. I work for a company who has been asked to tender to supply very large UPS system to store power generated by Wind Turbines
Ofgem cant help, Direct Gov give you a contact number to call, they then tell you to call another number and they refer you back to the original "source". I then called another govenrment body, the person on the end of the line was cealry not really listening, and asked me more details and that she would type what I was saying and then ask someone to call me back in 5 - 10 working days!
All I am looking for is a site or speak to a person who could advise on how the system works for medium sized orgnaisations that links UPS to the Wind Turbines, and sells unwanted power back to tthe grid (around 1500kw per day) thats it, but boy its proving difficult
Any ideas where else I could go to for this information please
Thanks

You are asking a confusing question, which isn't fitting into their boxes.
Firstly, you presumably want the maximum you can.
This would be if you can get it through the feed-in-tariff scheme.
From memory, this will pay around 5p/kWh, in addition to 3p/kWh 'export' payment.
If your system will not feed into the grid directly from the turbines, it may not qualify.
This will mean you need to hook it up as you would any other micro-generation plant - including a fossil fuelled one.
You will get only the export payments of around 3p/kWh. (and their processes are not setup to do this.)
Do you mean 1500kWh/day peak - when the wind is blowing really hard - 62kW constantly, or do you mean 1500kW continuous for as long as the wind blows?
The rates paid for FIT go down with increasing size, though I don't recall the thresholds for wind.0 -
How do these MCS certified people manage to connect solar PV, wind turbines and water mills to the grid?
If your company is NOT MCS certified, how are you going to tender for the quote?
If you ARE MCS certified, did you miss a day on the course?0 -
The company does not have to be MCS certified at the moment, they can simply purchase the required skills, either by employing someone certified, and applying on that basis, or using a company to do the certification.
The above scheme sounds odd enough that it may not in fact be MCS compatible - though it could arguably be better than current schemes, as it could output at night to a degree, when there is no wind.0 -
Must be one mother of a battery!!That gum you like is coming back in style.0
