Hi folks,
In December 2008, I bought a set of Bose headphones from the Apple Store in Glasgow.
They developed a fault late last year where the sound was quite distorted. I took them back to Apple and was told there was nothing they could do.
Any advice on what my options are?
I guess when I spend £300 on a set of headphones, I'd expect them to last longer than 3 years.

As per the SOGA (as the item is over 6 months old) you need to prove that the fault was inherent and not due to misuse.
You need to get an independent engineer to provide a report to that ends and present this to Apple.
They can repair, replace or partially refund ultimately at the discretion of the retailer.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

I love the title is SOGA yet the OP evidently hasn't bothered to look at the FAQ or any other thing that related to the SOGAThinking critically since 1996....0

Hi, have you read MSE's Consumer Rights article?
All the information you need is in there.
Of course come back and ask any further specific questions. :beer:0 -

It may be worth contacting Bose direct as there is a chance it may still be under their warranty (depending on the model)

Wow, that must be a record for these forums, first patronising response only 9 minutes after posting!

I guess common sense would just be called sense if everyone had it.

try giving Bose a ring - I had a pair of headphones which ended up not working following an attempted mugging. Spoke to very helpful customer services woman - she took code number from earpiece. As they were out of warranty she arranged for a replacement set to be avilable at local store for a fee of £50. Worth every penny to me
Hoep that helps0 -
If your headphones aren't under warranty and you can't get proof of an inherrent fault, it is still worth contacting Bose as they may well offer to take your headphones in part exchange for a new pair.
I did this a couple of years ago (with a set of Quietcomfort headphones), and I had to pay about 50% of the current price for a replacment.
I know this is just what munchpot said, but I've only just seen their post!0
