Free Listing on ebay in Holland, Belgium and France yet wa still have to pay

This is another example of "Rip-off Britain"
In Holland, Belgium and France listing on Ebay is free and they pay 8% comission of the Final Value
Here in the UK for the same service we pay between 10p and £1.30 per item depending on what it is and the starting price
Then we pay 10% of the final value.
I suggest that every ebay seller complain to ebay about this unfairness.
A Solution.
List on the Duch, Belgian or French sites.
The only drawbacks can be.
An understanding of French or Dutch (Use Google Translate)
Get paid in Euros (These an be transferred to GBP within Paypal)
Holland: www.ebay.nl
Belgium (french or flemmish): www.ebay.be
France: www.ebay.fr
There are no rules against using these sites. You an use your registered username and password

On eBay .com even businesses get a certain number of free listings a month.
However I don' t quite follow why it is unfair that each country has its own rules, or do you want PayPal only as is enforced on eBay.com in many categories?
I' m extremely happy that we are all unique, it would be boring if we we all the same..
By all means sell on other sites, it is allowed and I do sell on eBay.com. just remember to abide by their rules and all the individual return policy and postage caps of course.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Adding to this, selling on the other sites would mean your Domestic postage cost will be postage to the country whose site you are selling on and having to list postage to the UK as international postage. On eBay .com even businesses get a certain number of free listings a month.

Yes, always worth mentioning. I would also add, especialy when listing on ebay.com, that you cannot say too many times that you are in Britain. The UK./ England etc, they tend to think if it is on ebay.com then you are there on mainland US and stuff can be sent for next day.
Lots and lots of postage caps on ebay.com though so a number of things are really uneconomic as when postage is going to cost say £11 and you are capped to $3 it starts to build up the FVFs a bit.
Oh and on ebay.com it costs extra to list for 10 days- so I vote against having all sites the same please.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Also I would add that on France Cassified type ads get higher ranking than standard auctions and BINs.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. They really aren't like for like comparisons, Ebay markets are very different across the world. In the UK we are lucky to have a strong Ebay with a large customer base. There are countries with higher listing fees and/or higher final value fees and many with no discounts and seller incentives..0

Having free listings here would just encourage unregistered businesses and people uploading unsellable tat. On eBid when I was buying stamps I was discouraged by people listing single stamps which they thought might be worth selling but in reality were worthless - not even worth the 50p asking price.
A nominal fee means that people have to think hard about what they list."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I know about Gumtree but that doesn't have the same kind of coverage and it's more for local salesEbay own Gumtree in the UK which is free classified ads.
Ebay bought Gumtree in 2005 and my guess is their aim was to stifle competition. I'm surprised they haven't made a lot of changes to it since then but they don't appear to have promoted it in a big way
For free classifieds there's also Vivastreet and Preloved
http://www.vivastreet.co.uk
http://preloved.co.uk
I occasionally sell on all of them. Usually large items that can be awkward and pricey to send by post
They are a good way to sell locallyIWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0
