I have started driving in UK recently.
I had NU policy for 3 months and then cancelled it and moved to Admiral.
(Reason - I was driving with foreign license so premium was very high in NU but after passing UK test, I moved to Admiral with relatively lower premium even after considering NU's £52 cancellation charge, as NU wasn't ready to lower premium anyway).
My question is, to accure a 1-yr NCB, do I need to stay with same insurer for full 1 year? Or it can be 3 months from insurer A + 9 months from insurer B = full 12 months NCB?
After leaving NU, they issued me a letter stating that in 3 months I didn't make a claim.
At present it is a not a big issue with me as Admiral's policy is for 10 months anyway.
But I'm thinking whether it is wiser to move to other insurer if good deals are available before existing insurance finishes.
Thanks.

Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

You need to saty with the same insurerer for a full 12 months to gain a years no claims bonus. Policies that have run for less than 1 year do not count.
