Just wondering if anyone receives DLA for a child with asthma? I know it's probably unlikely but just wondering.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yes, people will.
But there isn't one 'Asthma'.
There is 'gets slightly wheezy every few weeks, and needs to take an inhaler, or sit down for a bit'.
And there is 'has been admitted to hospital 6 times in the last 2 weeks'.
You will only get DLA for asthma if there are either substantial care needs over and above a normal child. (for example, making them wear a nebuliser when they want to rip it off), or if watching over them is required for their safety.
Or if their condition makes them unable to walk.0 -

Wow I never knew that! I have learned so much on this site that it has allowed us to more than double our weekly income.
Our grandson has Asthma and does go into hospital regularly. He has to be watched over at night and in the day, and that he is restricted as to what he can do. He is 5.
Right, time to ring the DLA helpline and get a claim form sent out.
I never really knew that there was this much financial help available if you or a child has any form of need caused by a 'disability'.0 -
Yes you can claim DLA for any condition providing you have care and or mobility needs. For a child's claim those needs must be substantially in excess of a child of the same age of 'normal health'. Asthma can be very severe and even fatal for some and the care/mobility needs can be excessive. Moreover, asthma is a very scary condition and a child could need a lot of reassurance and support both physically and mentally/emotionally. You may also get increased amounts of Tax Credits as a child disability element could be awarded (for any award DLA) and a child severe disability element (for higher rate care DLA award). Don't forget to inform the HMRC as soon as the DLA award is granted.0

Are you having a laugh or something?
Or is it that you have a sick sense of humour?
Either way - trot off somewhere else and see if you can upset someone else!
Some people have some very sick and wierd minds to come out with that comment when I was discussing my grandson who suffers from Ashtma.0 -
