Global Parking Uxbridge High Street

Options
My son got a £275 ticket for a two minute stop on the entrance to Active4less next to Subway in the High Street. The address is 233 High Street. Can anybody tell me how I can find out who the owner of the land is and therefore who employs these rogues to take money from people. I know I am going to get asked was there any signs... well yes but there was a car parked in front of it. Handy then. The guy had a little Ford Ka and pounced. Watch out if you go there.

I have read the articles on this and many other sites advising on a course of action. I contacted the owner of Active and they were unaware of the landowners name. Strange as you would think they would know who they pay rent to.

I am going to help my student son try and get his money back any updated information or procedures would be a great help

  • Do you mean to say that he was clamped? If not why did he pay?

Register and start a new topic on pepipoo, they have helped several people get their money back here. You don't need the landowner, it's the Gym who contracted the clamper.

Here's the latest thread from someone who is currently threatening Court:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=67587

Please don't reply on that thread, start your own thread with your own pictures and include a link to that thread for info/comparison. You will need a pic of the receipt for the pepipoo posters to look at.

I assume I am right and this is exactly the same place? Stay on pepipoo and you CAN get your money back out of COurt. The gym settle when their cage is rattled, every time.

As already advised Pepipoo is your best bet to get advice but it'd help if you could be clear about a few things.

What exactly happened - did he get a ticket & ignore it, did he go to court & lose? did he get clamped?

Has your son paid this ticket?

Has your son made any admission of liability?

Who gave him the ticket? (council or private company?)

Where exactly was he parked - active4less is not shown own google streetview? i.e. was it private land, pedestrian zone or double yellows?

Seems like it could be Global Parking UK Ltd and a re-branded Flex Lifestyles gym!

On one of those threads there is a picture of the clampers Ford Ka!
  • Thanks all.

    NICECHAP.

My son was parked on the wall adjacent to the Slug and Lettuce. Google earth shows the entrance to the Active4less car park, with Subway to your right. He was clamped at the scene after being away for two minutes and it is not controlled by yellow lines
He had to pay the £275 to get the clamp released at the scene but did so under protest.

The ticket issuer was a private company called Global Parking.

I spoke with one of the directors of Active4less and they said they were not responsible and did not contract these people to control the parking, hence my request for the landowner details.

Any further help would be appreciated

All the info you need about who to issue a notice of intention to sue is on those links already given. Just follow everyone else's lead who has posted on pepipoo and politely but assertively 'rattle the Gym Manager's cage', make it very clear that Court will follow.

Start your own thread on pepipoo when you have read other people's experiences on those similar threads. But please head your pepipoo thread up 'Another clamping by Global at Active4less Uxbridge' or similar so that it's clear this isn't just a rubbish fake ticket we are talking about. You keep saying 'ticket' when the operative word that made your son pay was 'clamp' so make sure the pepipoo posters know you are looking to sue (or threeaten to sue) for a refund of a clamp release fee.

You should be able to draft a Notice Before Action for each party based on other people's versions - on the thread links already provided - and learn from how they got their refunds. Some certainly have already, as the Gym don't like the complaints much nor the idea of Court, it seems.

Active4less WOULD say what they said to you, wouldn't they?! The other threads on pepipoo suggest they were lying...study them and when you have started your own thread there, maybe send a pm to the thread-starters who have already 'been there done that', got the refund. They will know the truth of who contracted the clamper - and my bet from reading threads there before is, it's definitely the Gym. No money has to change hands, for there to be a contract between them for the clamper to provide them with a 'service'.
