Any washing machine engineers out there?

Options
I have a LG Intelo 7Kg. It is about 7/8 years old and has been fabulous. Recently if I put in more than 3/4 items or if it's something that gets very heavy when wet eg tracksuit bottoms or 2 bath towels, it refuses to pump the water out. I have to manually scoop the washing and the water out of the drum and then open the filter to release the rest of the water.
My guess is that the weight sensor has gone? My question is - can it be repaired? We live right out in the sticks and don't want to waste money bringing an engineer right out her just to be told it's beyond repair.

Any help or suggestions would be most grateful.

take the pump off and all its piping first. check it all and clear it all out.
often you can get serious blockages in the pipes. and the filter.

its worth doing cause it doesnt take that long, its simple enough, and its free.
    Get some gorm.

Ormus' idea is worth a go (and costs only time) however this machine does have a diagnostic built in so if something is wrong, it may indicate what the problem is. Are you getting an error code and if yes what does that tell you (listed in the manual possibly)?

My father and myself were washing machine engineers :)

There are a few things that could be affecting the emptying cycle :

    1) it could be the pump - either a partial or full blockage, easy fix
    2) it could be the pressure switch sticking, if its stuck in the full position it wont send the signal to the controller to empty the machine, hence it wount spin because the machine is full of water. easy fix.
    3) it could also be the programmer, unlikely but have known programmers to stick at certain points during cycles.

Any decent white goods engineer should be able to fix it relitavely cheaply.

  • Thanks for all your replies. To answer some of the queries, I get an error code OE - overload error, and the problem only happens when more than 3 items are being washed.
I have checked the filter - nothing in there.

You all say it is easy to check the pump, I'm not sure how to do this but will give it a go tomorrow, presumably the back will have to come off.
