looking on google you can do a deed poll to change your name online for about a tenner, I thought you'd could just revert to your maiden name as it is your name. obviously not if lawyer wants £50+ vat0

If you wish to be known by a different name you can change your name at any time, provided you do not intend to deceive or defraud another person. There is no legal procedure to follow in order to change a name. You simply start using the new name. You can change your forename or surname, add names or rearrange your existing names http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_family/family_index_ew/change_of_name.htm0

You can make a stat dec for free. I used this wording: http://www.gorge.org/experiences/deedpoll.shtml and now have a new digital passport (obviously that did cost money) and new bank card, and new driving licence in my new name.0

Possibly. Google 'changing your name Scotland' or 'deed poll Scotland' and see what comes up.
Out of interest, who's asked for the statutory declaration?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
just phoned passport office again and asked if they would accept a deed poll as I live in scotland, again they didnt know and I was on hold for ages and she came back and said yes they would accept one, the passport office asked for my divorce certificate (i am not divorced yet) or a statutory declaration from lawyer, phoned lawyer they said £60 and I said to lawyer would it be cheaper doing deed poll and she said thats an English thing!! Apparently not. Cant open your other links as pages blocked at work will investigate more tonight, thanks guys0

In Scotland you can do your own statutory declaration without a lawyer. Or you can change your name ith GRO if born in Scotland cost £40 http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/regscot/change-of-name.htmlThe truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
